Transcript of Dick Guy Interview on Oxygen Show
« on: December 08, 2019, 11:24:11 am »
Note: This is only a transcript of the portions of Dick Guy's interview that appeared on the Oxygen Show. A complete transcript of the entire conversation has not been obtained, but is strongly believed to exist.

Voice over: In the meantime there was someone else there that evening.

Q: You're one of the first responders on the scene?

A: We were, yeah

Voice over: EMT did Guy arrived on scene at 7:56 p.m.

A: We were dispatched to that call. We drove out. There's a car that apparently impacted a tree and it had spun around such that it was facing the opposite direction. We drove around it and parked. There was nobody at the site of the accident. It's not terribly unusual to have a car with nobody there. If somebody is driving impaired sometimes they don't really want to interact with the police.

Q: How much damage was there to the car?

A: Not terribly expensive. The was nothing to indicate that anybody was hurt.

Q: Was anything about the scene unusual to you?

A: Yes. I walked up and down the snow banks a little ways. The part that was inexplicable to me was why would anybody shave off the inside of a corner. If you lose control of a car you generally would proceed in a direction that inertia would take you as opposed to a tight maneuver like that. If you were slippery you generally go off the outside of a curve you don’t go through the inside of it. Didn't make sense. And then we proceeded to look around the car and my partner says “what's with the rag in the exhaust pipe?” I’m like wow what is that?

Voice over: We’re talking with Dick Guy - one of the first responders to Mauras accident scene.

A: It was like a dish towel. I kind of was a head-scratcher. Cause, you don't see that.

Q: Can you explain to me how it was in the tailpipe?

A: It it looked like it was stuffed in and it was hanging out 8 inches 10 inches or so not quite to the ground.. It really seemed odd. It make no sense.

Q: Have you ever arrived at an accident scene and seen a rag in a tailpipe?

A: No, never.

Q: So why would anybody put a rag in a tailpipe?

A: I wondered if she might have stopped at the little store um maybe a half mile before and somebody had sabotaged her car trying to make it stall.

Voice Over: If Maura’s car were sabotaged, it would be easy for the culprit to trail a short distance behind and pretend to lend a helping hand.

A: That’s a pretty remote part of the world. Cell phones don't work at all. It’s a part of the world, where ordinarily if somebody gets an accident they might have taken a ride with somebody.

Q: Do you ever hear things around town like rumors or people talking about it?

A: Absolutely

Q: What do you hear?

A: There are lots of theories. There was um, the story and some of them portend to be based on fact. There was a story about some young men who worked at the ski area over at Loon that lived and would have driven by that site on the way to work that didn't show up for work that night.

Voice Over: The Loon Mountain Ski area sits on route 112, 20 miles East of Maura’s crash site. Did the so-called Loon Mountains 3 see Maura at a gas station and then sabotage her car sticking a rag in the tailpipe? I've read about this theory on blogs but hearing that it's also a story that circulates locally makes me think there could be more to it.

A: That’s the one that sticks in my mind as being the worst possible scenario to me is that somebody would have abducted her, take advantage of her, done something bad.
