Q: There has been a lot of things said about law enforcement and what they did and didn’t do. Is there anything you would like to clear up or say to any of those people

Monahan: Sure, So this is really the first time I have been able to openly talk about my story.

Monahan: I heard a call come in for a car crash on rt. 112. So when I got to the scene, I pulled up and Cecil Smith was already there. And I rolled down my passenger side window and I said “Hey what’s up, do you need me to do anything.” He said Butch (this bus driver) is checking up in the Mountain Lakes area, and I said well I will look around and I will check some of the back roads -- and so I did.

Monahan: I turned around and went back towards Swiftwater, it just made sense that you would go back towards where there was more civilization. So I confined my search area to where I knew there were people and stores because it appeared that is where the car must have come from. I didn’t see anyone or any footprints, so about an hour later I left.

Q: You didn’t get out and interview any of the neighbors

Monaghan: No not that night, we did do a bunch of follow-up investigation, but not that night.

Monaghan: And then a day or two after that, is when my Lieutenant called me and he said ‘Hey did you help Haverhill with a car crash?’ I said yeah, he said ‘Is there a report and I said no I did what we call a General Service Report, just assisted another department. He said ‘Well I think we are going need to pull a report on it and write a better narrative.”

Q: Can you tell me a little bit about what was done in the follow-up Investigation

Monaghan: I think I went to three places that had surveillance cameras. Cumberland Farms, BP Quick Stop and then Shaw’s in Woodsville. It Is still where it was (back in 2004 it was called Butson’s) I pulled the tapes just to see if perhaps if she had stopped there on her way through and I didn’t find anything.”

Q: Have you heard anything about like this Witness A?

Monaghan: Right I so that was one of the things that someone said hey did you see that there's this new theory. Its not what what I saw I pulled up and Cecil was there and uh so and then I left.
